For the animals
I love animals with all my heart From animals I'll never be apart I believe they all have the right to live Look how to humans their hearts they do give Why do we treat them the way we do When to us they are always so true How can we sit here, watch them slowly die Then once they're gone we don't even bother to cry How is it that we cannot care After all, with you, their lives they did share Why do we leave them to go insane And feed them on their own mother's brain Is this what greed drives us to Even though they'd give their lives for you We kill them for fun, we kill them to eat And once they're dead, hang them up by their feet Is this the way you'd like to die Would you like to end up on someone else's braai You lock them up in tiny cages Kill them after you've driven them to one of their rages How can we blame it all on them When really it's the fault of the women and the men How can you take away their freedom and sunlight Take away their family late at night I ask these questions and many more Why do we do it, what is it for We call ourselves humanely, good and kind But to the animals we are a horrible find So next time you think if eating a roast Remember this poem and rather have toast!
