Future

I escape with my words on this cold winters day, Writing down secrets, while the children quietly play. Airing my thoughts for all to see, Hoping the writing helps me somehow be free. I look at the children and my heart swells with pride. A single mum I am and there’s no where to hide! Their little faces confused with what has been, But still they are happy despite what they’ve seen. I pull it together day after day, Washing, cleaning, cooking, but its easy they say! Its not hard work, it’s a woman’s normal place. Tell that to my body and the lines on my face! As I write this poem my baby snuggled against my chest. I have hope for the future, we deserve the best. Keep it together no matter how hard it will be, I will make this happen for them and for me.
