Gesundheit
It was a sneeze that ended his day, disease infested human spray Once, a ‘bless you’, awkwardly said Twice, a tissue offered instead Thrice, a bloody stain on the bed Last, the doctor pronounced him dead Puzzled they loomed at the scene, he looked so peaceful, like in a dream But now this dream seemed a nightmare His wife, she yells ‘This isn’t fair!’ A sob, a sniff, a motionless stare ‘How can he leave, does he not care?’ She faints and falls right next to him A bump, a splat, the next of kin Last, the breath which left this wife Thrice, the nurse tried to revive Twice, the trip to heaven’s bay Once, a sneeze confined its prey Ilse Stols 11/01/08
