Ghosts
Not a benevolent Caspar nor a frightful Llorona though spirits nontheless- restless fantasmas said to loiter ( not necessarily haunt) these very streets, the desert, silent sierras. Are they searching for peace, or merely closure? a forgetting of an ugly death, a way to quiet history- to silence a legacy of violence? "Llorona" is the malevolent weeper woman of Mexican legend who haunts creeks and other bodies of water, waiting to drown children. The entire poem is in reference to the violence in Ciudad Juárez.
