Go On Charlie
Charlie comes from a quiet town Ohio rain a'pouring down He hates his job but he tries to smile Something good will happen if you wait a while Now Charlie falls for a long time friend Seems to good to last but it couldn't end She's so smart and she's very pretty But she's moving south for school, moving to the city Go on Charlie you got nothing here But a longing heart and an empty beer You know you love her and you always will You'll do what you gotta do Now they've got a nice apartment and he wants to marry He loves her so much it's a little scary He doesn't really know how he could go on If she or her love were ever gone One day he had a feeling that something's wrong He started looking through her stuff- he didn't have to look long He found pictures of her and a guy having fun With them burned in his brain, he loaded his gun Go on Charlie you got nothing to lose With a heaving heart and a bottle of booze You know you loved her and you always will You do what you have to do Lay down Charlie you can't take anymore With a tear in your eye and your heart on the floor You know you loved her and you always will You did what you had to do
