Green Fog
I loved you more than anyone But our love can't be true, This I see now has begun- I think you always knew. Drink in absynthe, feel your final fate, Green fog of bitterness, rejection, hate, Of love, and lust, and loss of paradise, Life in roaring flame and death in ice Gambled without knowing price, The dice have now been thrown, Gave up all as love's device- I think you've always known. Sensually secret for a while, Throbbing with a deep and dark desire, Melting into nothing, empty shame, Left with just a shadow and a name I hope that when you see his face, You think of what you did, While preaching over God's good grace- He knew the thing you hid. The only one I lusted for was you, Bitterly, I've conquered that now too, Now I'll be exactly what you need And likely never find in word and deed A fool I'd been to not get out When everything was wrong, Love had a way of dulling doubt- You knew it all along.
