Happiness or Something More
How do you measure happiness? What can I seek to understand? Is what I’ve found my dark regress, The carving of some promised land. Perhaps it’s more like gravity, And falling down, my house of cards With so much weight on top of me, It’s hard to see the tiny shards. Because, when asked I don’t know why, Why does the world react this way. Can I be happy and not lie Which proves what other people say. What makes a happy man complete? Great love, knowledge, or novelty, Do these items of ordinance beat The lesser trials of destiny?

I care not so much what I am to others as what I am to myself. Michel de Montaigne
