Haunted Ships
Haunted Ships Silence presses in around me, shrouds me in its ghastly hue. Icy needles pierce the coldness, terror shields the door from view. Panic-struck, I scream in silence "Help!" lies frozen on my lips, then I watch them pass before me, shadowed wraiths of haunted ships No single ray of light to comfort, icy fingers rake my face. My doubts, my fears keep multiplying, running rampant through this place. I fear I could be trapped forever until I board a haunted ship, sailing to a ghostly nowhere. I would as soon forgo that trip Defiantly, my hands reach out with fingers splayed to touch the prow. Heart and mind of one accord sing, "Take me on that voyage now." But wait! I hear the voices calling Is that my name in the breeze? Who dares inscribe my sinful record with judgemental expertise My nervous laughter breaks the horror, cracking, splintering my concern. Here comes an isolated sunbeam to shatter bow and batter stern. Can I forget this waking nightmare upon the dawning of the day? I must ignore the urge to board those haunted ships, and sail away
