·JAPOV

Every polite indiscretion to avoid complication Has slowly chipped away at me Every violent trepidation or shocking exasperation Has left scars to plainly see Every indiscreet cliché Every insult took something away Till even sadness abandoned my cold instinct to persevere... With senses torn asunder I hang my head and wonder Why my chest is so full of holes Far too tired to hate and failed empathy abates While I contemplate the merit of growing old My every plea for mercy Your every spiteful word to curse me And you wonder why I have no heart left to forgive... Your vulgar defamations And derogatory insinuations Would, at last, seem to be true... I no longer have any use for you
