Heart of stone

When my lovers’ words escaped his lips He would speak of great ardour Intensity and love would devour me The stone in my chest would soar Never once did the thought occur That these words could be detained My lover could never terminate his heart Never subject me to such throbbing pain Yet it happened. So unforeseen The stone in my chest bled dry As he lost all feeling and devotion for me My happiness fell from the sky I want to ask where I went wrong What the mistake was that I made Now all I can do is run and hide To avoid this dark and desolate place But what hurts the most Are not his feelings that are so unshared It’s that this much I know to be true- No longer does he care
