Heart to Heart
I’ve often wondered what I’d hear if your heart were to speak, And whether its words would reveal the answers that I seek. Would it speak of allurement that quickens its sweet pace, Or would it say that to you I am just another face? If I were to lower my ear to your rising chest, I question whether what I’d find would put my mind to rest; If the beating rhythm of your heart would match my own, And if your deepest, true desires would to me be shown. Do you think of me the same thoughts that I think of you? The blood pulsing through your veins might give me a clue. Should I listen to your heart, what promise could it make? Thump, thump, thump. That’s all there is. What a foolish mistake.
