Heidelberg Scars

You wear your loves like Heidelberg scars, proud marks on your soul inflicted in spars. Thrust and parry, parry and thrust, there is no winning, just losing and lust. You dole out your slashes, but in what you take pride are those invisible marks from the wounds you can’t hide. You can’t lose at this game with those scars your ideal, they’re held in your heart, you don’t want them to heal. Now you want me to love you and add to your lesions, though to me love’s forever, there are no more reasons. So why will I enter into this dance? Do I too want my scar from romance?
