Her Elegy
Though I now lay a tulip at your grave, Your favorite of all the flowers, I ask how could this have happened? The color to leave your cheeks, The breath to escape your lips, And my love to follow along with it. Oh my fair and beautiful Princess! I waited with you, I being your handsome Prince To make you my Queen and you make me your King And never want another thing in life again. However, Death has taken your life and, in turn, Ripped my desire of life away. The crowd gathered around your grave Weeps for you as a person or as an obligation Because they had no opportunity to feel Your vast and relentless love's grace! I had this privelege with you, my love, to feel your warmth and your life's light. Now I am cold, but your love will last me Until my own dying breath is declared And I will join you in the afterlife. As I cross the Rubicon I will be glad To once again love and be loved by you I love you with all I am.
