Holding time....Love hearts adorn the walls *revis

The old stone house has lost its place roof tumbling in paynes grey flags gleam monumental memories, of the famine An ash tree shoots through remaining fragile brittle slates Wild scented roses, wrap white wash stones with protective arm clasping time. Pink distemper walls adorned with hand painted motifs faded by light its artist summoned to the heavens Artistically scribbled names and love hearts memories lost to yesterday's passions now mark the churchyard with marble gold engraved stones Ivy strangles red painted peeling door the black open fire stacked with kindling dropped by the furroging crows on a quest to line their nests Staring though the dust filled panes, the green hills race forever The bedroom where Lizzie slept seems smaller The aromatic smell of her sweet scented perfume still lingers. Light shines through mist filled pane filtering dust. A picture of the sacred heart beams ravages of time and memories held in the open handed gesture of the Lord I can hear the music of Ave Maria sung by the church choir echoing footsteps of hurried parishioners, to the Gothic Chapel on the hill Untouched by time, memories gather flock to the dust corridors that held the past entombed genuflect - in silent reverence. © Rea 17th March 2009
