Hunger Game
(This is meant as an experiment. I'm trying to adopt a more contemporary poetry style, and I want to get really good at it. I hope you'll be able to find something pleasant in this poem.) Hunger screamed like an angry saxophone. You couldn't keep your cool, the cake as flashy as a neon flamingo. An apple wouldn't fool it. Water couldn't drown it. Hunger dropped a coin, you played its favorite song: more, more, more! Your resolve was the 8-ball, appetite the cue that sank it: if you only knew how to play! Hunger teaches. You never learn.
