I find comfort
I find comfort in the night. Under a dark cape of resting day, I find a place of hiding from the things I am too afraid to face. I find comfort in the lonely trees sighing softly to the whisper of my thoughts. I find warmth in the cold embrace of the wind and feel shame at the sight of the spying moon. In the definite solace in the unbecoming of day, In its impurity and fatigue, I feel betrayed by the things that could have been and should have been. I feel rejected by the leaving sun and mourn at every passing hour. I find comfort in the company of darkening clouds, passing by on a lonely aimless journey to a destination unknown. I find comfort in the blinking stars whose only battle is to be seen, standing there, alone, in a bare empty sky, whose only desire is for their existence to be acknowledged and documented before they bow their heads and die a silent death, and their heavy hearts fall into the infinite spaces of darkness. I find sorrow in the hollow smiles of strangers, whose eyes cruelly strip search the surface of my skin and simply classify me as unworthy. I find strength in their weaknesses and the willingness to accept their human circumstance. I find comfort in the shame that shields me from their piercing stares, their deep wells of shallow smiles and the eternity of their stolen glances. I find comfort in the weeping skies, as I stand exposed in my lonesome, tears disguised as falling rain. I find comfort in the night. In the boisterous breathing of the quiet, I find an open ear that listens and not only hears, I find an eye that sees and not only looks , I find a hand that holds and not only touches. I find a friend. I find comfort in the night. I find love in the quiet times spent with you. And hope in the newness of day.
