I'm Color Blind

I’m Color Blind I think I must be color blind… The world views race as so confined. I think of man as a work of art, We all bleed red, and have a heart. God made men that they might be Free, and treated equally. So why does hate and angst abound? How do we turn this mess around? Just Yesterday I met a girl Her raven hair so full of curl The ebony of skin devine I thought it looked a lot like mine. She was sixteen and hugged me tight I’m fifty nine; it felt so right. Her beauty and her grace so rare, Her sublime spirit held me there. There in the bed a dark man lay His body frail, his hair turned gray In a nursing home, just lying there I held his hand and said a prayer. My college team was playing ball With helmets and pads that covered all They looked the same, it warmed my soul A common community after all Why do we always have to hear “You owe me this, you brought me here”. No man deserves much more or less We all should work to build our nest. So if we’re equal, let’s stand tall The world will brighten after all. Let’s be the neighbors we should be, And love each other equally! Ilamae Stucki (c) 4/7/2010

I am a Registered Nurse.. I have loved writing for as far back as I can remember. My first writing was experienced by drawing as a child. In 7th grade I wrote a poem about Abraham Lincoln that won an award and was read on the radio in Salt Lake City....
