I Remembered
I remembered How i heard him before i saw him The laughter clear and pure as the mountain water Then i saw the sorrow in his eyes The worries carved a frown as deep as the sea I tried to drive(dive) them out, But all that came was tears I held his hand to the very end. And he knew i felt his pain But mine was greater still As he struggled to take in his last breaths I would gladly have given mine Just to hear him laugh again And as his grip loosened.. My fleshy hand in his bony one He told me ..... Although they welled up inside me, I shed no tears that day. So great was my agony, That it soon turned to guilt. For i alone knew, that i had not truly been there till the end, I had merely held his hand.. Once twice , thrice he had tried But my senses could only awaken as his died..
