I was taught to fear the unknown Never to take on a loan Always know my zone. I was taught to love mildly Show emotions lightly In fear of losing highly. I was taught to laugh in a low voice To cross my legs making no noise To dislike the arrogant boys. I was taught never to let down my guard Be lady-like even if it is hard Hide my feelings when hitting the yard. I want to be taught to be my self To laugh as loud as it gets To fear no one and nothing none the less. I want to be taught to stand Strong after I been defied To show it all and never hide. I want to be taught to be higher To smell and admire To touch and desire. I want to be taught to teach my self Never put my feelings on the shelf. I want to be able to love As graceful and white as a dove. I want to trust and hug See the good even in a thug. I want to teach and be taught That even if you fought You need to believe in your own thought .
