I Was Only A Child Then
He was not always around, But every moment I spent with Him Could never be replaced by the previous one. I was only a child then, And then, He was there. His presence I could feel, Always seconds away, but never too close. He took the seeds out of the jar, Placed them below that dry earth. I was only a child then, then He covered them. He put His warm hand on my shoulder. Then told me all about the science behind it. I was only a child then, Then He watered the earth and left them there. “They had to die before they could live,” he had said. They stand tall, there today, With their roots embedded so deed, A wind could not shake them. Then, they had to die before they could live. Somehow I understand, but I was only a child then. He is not around anymore, I felt it, like I had not, then. Confusion, Sorrow, The Baggage lying heavily upon my heart; “They had to die before they could live.” I was only a child then.
