I Wept That Night

I Wept That Night (A villanelle) I wept alone that dark and empty night, No sign of love to salve my sorrowful soul. With fervent prayer the stars did shine so bright! I pleaded with myself to hold on tight! To grasp with firmest grip, the solid pole I wept alone that dark and empty night. That wretched time I had to plead and fight, I felt the tug of Satan, gripping at my soul. With fervent prayer the stars did shine so bright! Why did I stray away from truth and right? My trepid spirit through my life did scroll. I wept alone that dark and empty night. The pain and fear I felt, hit me with might. This time did take from me a larger toll. With fervent prayer the stars did shine so bright! Then as I prayed I saw the greater light, And in a moment colors brilliant did unfold. I wept alone that dark and empty night, With fervent prayer the stars did shine so bright. IlaMae Stucki Sept. 13, 1011

I am a Registered Nurse.. I have loved writing for as far back as I can remember. My first writing was experienced by drawing as a child. In 7th grade I wrote a poem about Abraham Lincoln that won an award and was read on the radio in Salt Lake City....
