Iceni's Yawn -2
Eye of Comprehension ( the eye of Fate some say ) damns Immortal transgressors upon their judgement day. To this place they're brought, by the Guardians of our kind; here in Iceni's Yawn, their crimes must be defined. Then, etched upon the conscience, as these sinners make ascent, inescapable truths are told, which need not their consent for none can erase what the Guardians, in their wisdom, thus proclaim; the climb alone, suffices to imprint for all time, their shame. Iceni's Eye, the door through which all understanding's met, presents a vision of paradise that none who sees forgets. And doomed now to this mournful place of suffocating mist for all eternity knowing, Elysium does exist is all the heavy burden that any Immortal needs to bear. Such knowledge imparted now, too late, is penance beyond compare, but should that not suffice to rob him of all wanton desires, a blink of Iceni's eye would grant the vision of mortal pyres. ******************************************************** This is part of a series, called The Immortals, that I am writing with another poet. We each write from different perspectives...he from Mortals', I from Immortals' perspective but the poems link by the story they tell. They should be stand alone poems too, so I hope this one explains itself. Peri
