Icy enemies

One wounded, one dead on the floor, this awful scene, the aftermath of cold war, not merely a fight or a feud, but a blizzard of bullets, there's still plenty more. The lone soldier stands there, surrounded by foes, he's fighting back tears as blood drips from his nose, they have him outnumbered, weapons in hand, he cries out aloud as the blows swiftly land. "That one had ice in it! I'm telling mum!" The others go running, the battle is done. When she comes out, they're like lambs for the slaughter, but which will go first, her son or her daughter? The mother strides out and grabs handfuls of snow, she'll find them both soon, this the pair know. They split up and run, at least one might make it, they stop and hear silence, both try not to break it. A cold wind blows, a chill runs his spine, from behind him a quiet voice whispers "You're mine!" The girl hears the fall of her comrade in arms, remains perfectly still, as the wind slowly calms. Her breathing grew silent as she breathed through her glove, but then something drew her eyes up above, a throw, a hit, a loud shriek "NOOOOOOOO!" As she fell to the ground, there was blood on the snow. We don't get snow very often where i live, so when it snowed enough for us to have a snowball fight we were overjoyed! I wrote this poem as a way of remembering the first snow we had in 4 years. I hope you like it.
