If You Cared
If you cared You wouldn't turn your back on me And you would be by my side On the count of three If you cared I wouldn't be a victim of betrayal And you would always be there To give me an appraisal If you cared You wouldn't have walked out And I wouldn't be filled With all of these mixed feelings of doubt If you cared You would give me unconditional love and support But this mission You chose so abruptly to abort I would retort But I just don't think That it's worth it anymore If you cared You would stop and look around And pay attention To all that surrounds You everyday Instead of causing me All of this pain and heartache If you cared You would take responsibility And always give me That certain ounce of proximity If you cared My life would be important to you But I guess in your world This is not true I have lived without you For most of my life I don't need you now As for myself I can provide I smile as I look up To see the beautiful sun shine And for the Lord My soul is divine Never am I to cross the line If you cared You wouldn't lie And you wouldn't say things To make me cry You make me feel like I want to die If you cared My feelings would matter You wouldn't let me fall apart And become emotionally scattered But I guess that I Don't matter to you And I shouldn't waste my time on a person With that kind of attitude By Glenn McCrary © 2009 Glenn McCrary (All rights reserved)
