BONAVENTURE CEMETARY * In Bonaventure Cemetery, where the dead tell their stories, with intoxicating tales of their former glories. * Where the darkness lays heavy like the old Spanish moss that hangs through the boughs on majestic live oaks. * Where the smell of the wisteria, In full bloom, Is enough to wake the dead, on this quiet afternoon. * The shadows cast long, from the afternoon light Give a bizarre garishness, to the faded plastic wreaths. * Where the quiet is so respected, you find yourself speaking soft, Lest you wake the dead here From their eternal rest! * Through epitaphs written, we have a history of their life and death throughtheir poetry, * There's Bubba Thomas Mastercraftsman, loved by many. And Corrine Lawton Allured to brighter world's led the way but not forgotten. * Oh and,Charlotte Guentaigen, who left a husbandmuch too soon. Oh my love, what I would'vegiven, for one more day tolay with you! * Through music, romance and art and sculpture, on graves that have been sculpted through the hands of a master! * An old tintype photograph That someone had captured. At just the right moment, I wonder, was it the photographer's lament? * On a piano headstone were carved musical notes, by one who madea living, throughsongs they had wrote. * All that's left of them now, is here remaining. Who would've thought, the dead could become so entertaining? * Wordplaya, March 2009

I enjoy writing and since rediscovering the power of poetry, it has brought me much joy! My favorite poet is Richard Brautigan, and I am a big fan of freestyle poetry, as I find it less limiting and most creative. I also like spoken word poetry. ...
