Irony Woman, woman, I percieved So Vile The hidden venom, behind your smile Who once I loved, and so much adored But you came to be, to me, abhorred With weekly payments, the courts replaced The times I saw my childrens face Like a thief you took what was rightly mine Oh how it made my teeth to grind With a phantom sword, I sought revenge Til every prick of my heart, avenged The war between us, was raging on In both our families, the battle lines were drawn But then, to each of us, a child was born That neither side, would ever harm A white flag appeared, a truce was made The rules of war were changed that day Last night, I sat and watched them play How bizarre, that its turned out this way I hugged them both, when time for bed The look inside their eyes, I read No anger or strife or gile...these two The battle we fought, they never knew In time, the tempest, had become just a rain A new found love had eased my pain The spoils of war, I have but one And that is, that my family, has gained your son
