Jericho

·fragment

Rugged Jericho stands alone amongst a desert of weary wanderers His wall’s raised high, ever higher As though there might be some help offered from some heavenly realm “Open your gates, Ancient City Let this grace walk through your downtrodden paths” Jericho is a solid fortitude for lost dreams and broken bridges, Jericho weeps Jericho yearns Jericho is broken, and his walls grow high. Your distress has been heard, and I will walk I will run I will dance I will march around these iron gates and I will replace these walls with the wet of my eyes, I will cling on until You know that this love is yours. It is joy that awaits you. These high risen barriers do not become you, man of truth You were called for strength by other means. Do not hide your face, oh brother of mine, Such beauty was not created for such strong walls. Stop hiding and fight with courage Let David dance within your heart. My steadfast Jericho, protect my open heart, which I bare to you That you, through me, might know Him. I will encompass you Embrace you Mother you Shield you And Cover you - that strong proud… that fearful Jericho will fall. I will be the windows to your soul The skin on your teeth The shadow in your footsteps The feathers in your wings And the arrows in your quiver Until you are the flesh of my flesh and the heart of my own, I will be still and know that I rest in Him “I will wait, I will wait for you.” (*Mumford and Sons)
