JUAREZ AFTER MIDNIGHT
JUAREZ AFTER MIDNIGHT * Bodies stacked like sardines canned. Gangs scatter like roaches in light. A city not safe for man nor beast, as Police cruise and frisk through the night. * Mere citizens not above suspicion, as they check all of them for heroin. Spring break won't be coming too soon, as midnight here becomes high noon. * The people work hard for US Plants where overhead used to be a problem, now that they moved it to Mexico, for 50$ a week they have solved them. * There's no worry about papers or immigration, or standards for environmental control, there's no need for air quality laws to abide by, it hides the smell of bodies that are burning alive. * Those workers can't live on what they makethey've got to make it up somehow, so they report to their second employer, the Mexican Drug Cartel. * Shots ring out like a prizefight bell, as ricocheting bullets merge flesh with metal. They rain down on ordinary citizens, who really had nothing to do with these things. * Lights from a random squad car light up night like a disco ball. there are 10,000 dead since 12/04 and we ask ourselves how many more.* The writing's on the wall here, as plain as graffiti claims turf, you can't escape the pain, the shame. and you know it can only get worse,Here in Juarez* WordPlaya, April 2009

I enjoy writing and since rediscovering the power of poetry, it has brought me much joy! My favorite poet is Richard Brautigan, and I am a big fan of freestyle poetry, as I find it less limiting and most creative. I also like spoken word poetry. ...
