july sunburn
I got sunburnt in july suffocating in the redness of my skin I examined its dry texture with numb fingers to see where it hurts the most my chapped lips covered with vaseline impenetrable with old words stuck in between the teeth I stayed in the sun letting my skin shed for far too long you came with autumn and hid me in shade letting the cool breeze ease my pain you offered to unseal me take out the decay you saved me from parching and getting lost in layers september brought rain
