Just Be
I wake up and the world swallows me whole Not cruelly but unapologetically. The universe is not good or bad It just is Happiness is pure ecstasy And sadness consumes me I live a life of exhausting extremes Sometimes just existing, tires me. I am never okay. Only one end of a very intense spectrum. My greatest desire is to one day wake up And just be. No sobs that rock my body, No joy that is so intoxicating I feel no reason to stop Hope is the most challenging of all When I have it, it breaks my heart When I don’t, I feel empty To have hope is to suffer from my own high expectations And to have none is to be a husk of a person If only I could just be.

Hi! I'm an amateur at writing poetry and a huge fan of reading it! I'm grateful for tips on how to improve as it's a hobby of mine, and I'd love to improve my skills. I have plenty of ideas, but I struggle with formatting and pace.
