King of Lies
You think me so ignorant, So knave of life to ever know So blatantly you changed from day to night Not wanting to believe the truth I swallowed your lies While my gut screamed at me furiously to open my blind eyes What a beautiful web of false words and deeds you so easily spun To keep me believing my fairy tale that I alone held the key to your love The queen of your heart, your life, your dreams Surely you must laugh How gullible I must have seemed So gallant you once were to me My sweet fairy tale prince What a king of lies and you turned out to be Actions once comparable to any gifts of gem or gold, Tarnished by much deceit that has scared my heart forever more Where love had once resided in an abundance of immeasurable means Now lies dark and destroyed those wonderfully decadent feelings Now only tear stained sad memories Extinct, burnt away, Like the morning suns rays dries the mist from a new day Over time your dreadful actions tossed the love I so freely gave So easily discarded you've thrown it all away Every time your lips kissed and your fingers caressed The flesh of another was like a dagger to my chest Games you played to keep your secrets from me Your prowess boggles my mind no credit of intelligence did you ever give me These years together that meant so little to you I cherished and protected every second every breath that was me and you If only I could be sure of your repeated words of regret Your promises of never repeating the mistakes Alas, this is not the first time I've listened to those words you profess I will not settle for second place in your life You swore before god I would be your one and only when we took our vows Instead I am left broken and empty No better than trash you left rejected upon the cold hard ground.
