Labored Faces

This poem is dedicated to the many displaced refugees and touches on the issue of intolerance which lead to the recent xenophobic attacks on foreigners With worn, labored faces you huddle in unmatched groups Stained with odors of uncertainties, as tiny hands cling desperately to peers with fears disguised, as audacious smiles Your plights fell on deafened ears Strangers you are, in the land of milk and honey of a continent, so dark Strangers you are, to those in passing , shooting poisoned arrows from eyes that disapprove, Ignorant youth My heart cries for the song portrayed on drums with skins out-stretched, stretched over the lost few with yearnings to belong. The hunted, the displaced I pray that you heal the hearts, of those who forgot, when they were strangers too. I apologize on behalf of the ignorant few
