My pen longs to write the last paragraph Its power to give meaning to interpretation A build up to a grand finale As you read on give a thought to the end Why the trouble of all these lines? When all I can think of is my poems end Thereafter no words dare be added Symbolism finds its completion Giving immortality to excellence Writing the last words to accentuate beauty The last paragraph will lead to rest These words will be carved in halls of eternity This will be the omega of all poetry The grand finale of all poetic expression The dream of every poet supreme This will be the mantra of all generations of poets Hold your breath these are last words of all poetry Resist the lure of skipping this paragraph Enjoy the suspense of what you are about to read Close your eyes count to ten, now read Now here it is … THE LAST PARAGRAPH Be afraid this might mean no more words to be written Maybe the paragraph should remain a fantasy Lest the curtain be lowered on all poetry
