Let Nothing Come Between Us
I happen to live in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. It is the noisiest place on earth. It's denizens are lovers of all things cacophonic, creating mayhem all around until the early morning. Unimaginable racket that comes-in, full volume, through my paneless metal-slat windows. So, here's a little love sonnet. You fill me with an inner peace so deep I seek you out in body, mind and soul Your coming brings me in out of the cold You alone can comfort me to sleep Why do you act so skittish, so elusive Why hide away in other worlds by day Why do you depart and never stay Why subordinate yourself to the intrusive When I'm with you the world we share stops turning My mind is clear, my judgement straight and perfect Your absence fills my world with violent conflict My tortured senses burn with constant yearning Of all the things that I could care to do The best is hearing nothing-ness with you. I love you, Silence.
