Life of the Summer
Okay, I like the idea of this poem when I began to write it, but I feel it needs a lot of work to get it whereI want it, so I'd like anyone taking the time to comment to be COMPLETELY HONEST!! I can take constructive or harsh criticism, in fact, I'm looking forward to reading the negative things with this piece so I know what to fix. So please tell me what you guys think needs work, or what you liked. Thank You. Bright golden light Piercing through the tall pine trees. Freshly cut green lawns Fill the air with the seasonal scent Of grass and gasoline Warm, sun-tanned girls walking In their short shorts and tank tops Decorate the streets and sands We’d spend our days frying in the sun At the crowded beach Forgetting about work, school, And life after summer. Driving down those dusty, country roads Blaring our summer anthems From my truck, always filled With faces pressed against the windows Nights that did not die until the morning sun scared away the moon.
