Listen to My Words

Listen to My Words Listen to my words O' Mighty Tree; You have always welcomed me into your shade, just as a lover welcomes her long lost love. And never as long as I can recall, have you given me any sorrow. But forgive me today, for I cut down your trunk and sell it's pieces away, in faraway lands. Please do know, that there was no hatred in my heart, when I, like a demon, ripped your soul apart. And that it was only to fulfill my desire for comfort that I disgraced my own soul. Listen to my words O' Nurturing River; From time immemorial, I have seen you give to me, the nectar of life. But forgive me today, as I pollute your pristine water and disgrace your holy spirit. Please do know, that there was no evil in my heart, when I released into you, the dirt of civilized men and the ashes of dead ones. Listen to my words O' Congress of wild beasts; You roamed this earth without any fear and inspired me to fight my own. But forgive me today, as I kill you without remorse, and snatch away from you the gifts, which our mother left, for both of us to cherish. Please do know, that there was no malice in my heart, when I buried your innocent corpse in my stomach. And that it was only to satisfy the hungry animal in me, that I took away from you, the gift of life. Listen to my words, O' fertile soil; For centuries, you have born my weight, and made life possible for me. And always shared with me, whatever grew out of you. But forgive me today, As I divide you amongst my brothers, even after I call you my mother. Please do know, that it was not my heart's cruel intention to dig your sacred face and steal from you, the children you gave birth to. And that it was only to please my fears that I built upon you, mountains of my dirt and that of my fellow men. Listen to my words, O' enchanting wind; You blew my love's hair across her face and made her seem heavenly. And you have been the ocean from which I obtained the essence of life. But forgive me today, as I feed you with thick black smoke that is the result of my own race against time. Please do know, that never did I want you to be unchaste, to mingle with so many impurities. And that it was only to quench my thirst for materialistic pleasure that I injected you with the dose of a thousand poisons.
