Reminiscence

it wasn't supposed to end like this 
with so many hanging syllables around those questions 
you know what I mean, 
the ones with multiple answers 
and we don't even have one 
never believing 
only to find out it never was 
 
so, where do we start or have we lost the beginning 
trapped in a maze of unfettered steps, 
right here at the starting gate 
although it's been years now 
and no one, but no one dares 
 
and me 
here I am, still waiting 
for what, exactly 
I wonder at times, 
if I have lost the key 
 
stuck in this canundrum 
a paradoxical dilemma, 
trapped in a loop 
that never returns ...
