Loser's Leap
Loser’s Leap A lifelong story of failed ambitions An endless list of aborted missions A plethora of chances never taken Too many openings were forsaken Simple catches that I failed to hold Faded rainbow with no pot of gold Three marriages ending in divorce A tapestry of tears shed in remorse A bank account that is overdrawn With nothing left that I can pawn A dirty and depressing council flat My neurotic, greedy, antisocial cat And as the clock of life winds down I am stuck here in this seedy town Twenty four channels of reality TV They do not look so very real to me At a window on the fifteenth storey I go out, hardly in a blaze of glory But seek only after my final breath Sanctuary within the arms of death
