Lost Love
I count the stars in the sky, the fish in the sea, and wonder when you’ll come back to me. I call to the birds in the air, the ants under ground, asking if what we lost can ever be found. I pray to the gods everywhere, the gods of all religions, you being away is too much to bear. The gods never answer, the ants make no sound, I’m giving up hope you’ll ever be found. Listen, please listen to what I say, replace my darkness with sunshine today. And if you don’t I won’t lie down and die, I won’t give you that pleasure, I’ll just have a good cry. It’s this uncertainty in which I wallow that makes your leaving so hard to swallow. So make your move, show your hand, release me from this shadow land. Remove any lingering bit of doubt, let me revel in sorrow that you’re in and I’m out. Undo the circle that once was us, make up your mind, there’s no more to discuss.
