Love Never Sleeps

·TheNightShift

The night is so very long and black But up until now I have not slept As the dawn is just about to crack All I have done is wept and wept If I were to sleep I know for sure I would slip onto the astral plane And dream of the girl that I adore Whose love I seek but alas in vain Here I lie and at the ceiling stare Soon will be the new dawn light Hoping one day for me she’ll care I whisper her name into the night My pillow’s wet with tears I shed My eyes are tired from lack of sleep Wishing she would come to my bed But instead think of her and weep Love never sleeps, so awake I stay And imagine her in love’s embrace To chase my heart’s despair away To fill this lonely and empty space Will it ever be, that which I crave? As the time goes by I need her more My hope surges like an ocean wave Then it crashes down upon the shore
