Love Wager

·Legion

One night, a priest and I had made a bet (I swore to God, I'd number every star) Baptized it with my spit and bedsheet sweat (I swore to God, I'd number every star) But if I lost, my heart would stay in debt (I swore to God, I'd number every star) I'd pay with heart attacks, and idle night's regret. (I swore to God, I'd number every star) But while I toiled, the Sun and I had met. (I swore to God, I'd number every star) She called me wild, but kept me as her pet. (I swore to God, I'd number every star) We lay together every night she set (I swore to God, I'd number every star) Until the priest had made good on his threat (I swore to God, I'd number every star...) ...but lost the bet, and never got that far.
