" Masks"
Such a simple piece of cloth- so thin, our sole reliance and protection against an unseen menace - deadly. Though as humans we ever try to make light of even the dismal so we don colorful, multipatterned masks, owning many... As such, smiles hidden, cosmetics are unnecessary or, ( only to accent the eyes.) It is a sign of the times, a symbol of hope, of survival, a prophylactic against potentially mortal droplets. And this covering of nose and mouth isn't dictated by fashion or culture- it isn't a costume, cowboy's bandanna, niqab, burkha or any type of veil... To wear it, simply affirms life.
