May I Start Over - (Dedicated to My Father)
May I Start Over? May I have another chance To make things right that are wrong? To see your golden sun set again And watch it come up in the morn? I wanted you to be so proud of me But all I brought to you was shame I wanted you to see the light at the end of the tunnel And see the sunshine in spite of the rain. But yet, I don’t know where you have gone Your life, well, it left a lot to be desired But you brought me moments of profound joy Despite everything that has transpired. They say I may somehow see you again But doubt tells me that I don’t know And anger makes me bitter and resentful Even if on my face it doesn’t show The reality is you are gone from this Earth And your ashes will be all that remain I just didn’t realize how devastated I would be… Life will never, ever be the same. Dedicated to: Nuite Drew Sherman, Sr. (1960-2011)
