Melba toast.
It really doesn’t require much grilling to produce what you desire; just attention. Golden wonder; speckled with bitter, blackened darkness. Crisp, meltingly sweet, salted softness. Each brittle mouthful a heartfelt emotion. Needs watching though; before you realise, it’s aflame and up in smoke. Like a star shadow you fade before my eyes.
