Memoirs
I think of things that we once had That once had made me feel so glad The evening dress I bought for you It matched your eyes of midnight blue Our honeymoon in New Mexico We drank tequila’s nice and slow The white sand beach in Borocay Beneath the clear blue Asian sky Theatre nights to watch the plays The country walks on summer days And right before my eyes I see A photograph of you and me A ribbon from the country fair A lock of your soft shiny hair The tickets for a football game The bracelet engraved with my name The wedding ring you wore with pride The note you left before you died With words I thought could not be true That said you had found someone new Your body laying where it fell The knife that means I’ll go to Hell
