Memory Song
There comes a time when memories are all you have now, when you’d like to really rock out but you don’t remember how. You want to be that kid at seventeen, car parked on the beach at night, feeling long and lean and mean, little girl snuggled beside you tight. She moves closer and is feeling the same way, this thing called life is just a game we play. You want to be that kid at twenty-five in a wedding coat, you want to be starting out in life, but the wedding was all she wrote. Wife, kids, house, too much of a chore, you meet a woman in a bar and go walking out the door. Years streak by like lightning as you go your separate way, until you’re old and by yourself and don’t know how to pass the day. Time has sped on by and is guilty of this theft, so go make yourself some memories now, they’ll be all that’s left.
