Mid Summer Night Rain

·Benhur

Like a caped crusader clouds encroach with stealth covering the black of night. Smothering the stars and leaving night skies pale grey. A first drop falls unannounced unnoticed, ghost of the mind … Subtle hints, dogs sniff the air Subtle jolts, winds swoop down Subtle smiles, the old folks know Another droplet rubbed away a bigger herald, bold and urgent his message speaks of wonder a tale bequeath to generations his brothers shall follow swiftly and rivulets shall they form all the yesterdays of beating sun emaciated earth cries, lamentations fulfilled, promise and prophesy a third harbinger glides down as pregnant clouds bear life cracks of desiccation are filled steam escapes from heated tar and dust mushrooms blossom by the smile of a streetlight. Come rain, create your perfume in a light and earthly fragrance hint of northwind, splash of terra cleanse this land in sheet flow till the coming of the morrow and new earth greets new morning
