Midnight love
We stared at the ceiling, as it slowly spun in our drunk vision. And you drew diamonds and butterflies, on my ribs and hip bones, and didn't mind the awkwardness, of my nerves circling us invisibly. We didn't kiss, but I still felt the air crackle, like static between us, whenever you looked towards my lips. And we stayed up late, asking each other pointless questions, until they turned serious. And we told stories, about our childhoods, that we'd never divulged before. And laughed about the things that weren't funny. And our hands met briefly, before skittering away, like little kids on ice skates. And we told secrets, with this doesn't leave the room, and trusted each other, for no reason at all. And didn't kiss, and didn't kiss. and didn't say we could fall in love, with the other person. but when I woke up next to you, and the mountain range of your bones, it felt like the first time I was home.
