missing something
i wrote this poem for my girl. Her name is Melissa. let me know what u think It is a long long way from home, Where my strange little story begins. I'd travelled days over mountains; through haze, When I came across a small inn. For days I'd dreamed of a warm kind of place, For a meal and a nice cold beer. So I stumbled on in, with relief on my face, And naught in the world to fear. "The biggest and coldest beer you have," Is all that I could say. As the local drinkers eyed me off, and laughed at my display. A man stood up, at the end of the bar, All malice and muscle and hair. He started walking over to me, with a confused and wary glare. "What is your name?" he mumbled at me, In a sad and lonely tone. "Tristan" I said sounding just a bit scared, Feeling more and more alone. "I can see on your face, that you're thinking of her, The girl that you left back at home." I looked up from my beer and into his eyes, And saw they were blue like my own. He smiled at me reassuringly, With a look that was somehow familiar, "Please leave me alone," I said in a tone, And got up to exit the building. He grabbed for my arm, with hands like stone, And a grip that held me there steadfast, "You sit back down!" he said with a frown, "I'm here to tell you my past." As I took back my seat, he ordered a drink, I watched him, my eyes asking questions, "All in good time" his gaze matching mine, Then looked off as in deep reflection. "Many years ago I knew a young girl, who I thought I'd be with forever." "But because of myself and the things that I did, We didn't end up being together. For hours and hours he spoke of this girl, And why she had ended up leaving. When he spoke of her smile, he sat for a while, Not moving, and barely breathing. "I was foolish with her, should've taken more care, Not gone off on my own adventures," As he said those few words my thoughts strayed to you, And not of my foolish intentions. "You should go home to her, always be by her side, Look after her better than I did." "She deserves the best, give her all she needs, Make sure she is always excited." "Show her the world, dont do it alone, And always make sure she feels needed." I looked at his face, a face I knew well, And did my best to try to read it. "What was her name, this girl that you knew?" The alcohol made my eyes flicker. He looked in my eyes, he leaned in real close, And whispered "her name was Melissa." I was stopped in my tracks, my heart skipped a beat, "who are you?" is all i could manage. "I am who you become, if you lose your true love, All lonely and sorry and savage." "Take heed of my words, that she is the one, No one in this world suits you more, I looked into his eyes, then down at my feet, My head was becoming quite sore. "What should i do, to make her feel loved, So she knows that she is the one?" There was no response so I looked up at once, And saw that the old man was gone. This is a poem for the one that I love, I'm sorry for leaving you lonely. But know while I'm gone, I love you alone, And I'm thinking of you and you only. I will be back home soon, and know when I do, I won't go unless you are coming, Because the last thing I want, is to lose you for good, And spend the rest of my life missing something.
