MOCKING THE MOCKINGBIRD
MOCKING THE MOCKING BIRD * I plant my lawn chair out in my yard, for my morning coffee concert from the mocking bird. For his audience of one, as he sings his song well, he starts his opening number with his warm up drill. Covering the scale from High to low C, he does the Robin, the Bluebird, the Crow and the Wren, up high on the scale, and back down again. The Jay, the Cardinal and other assorted birds, with no breath in between, as he changes again. This time he’s a cat. This time he’s a dog. This time it’s the police siren. He does them all! He’s hoping a female, will answer his call. By showcasing his talent, he keeps them in awe, and me included. That’s all for now. He’s gone in to the brush to meditate. His lovely melody, interrupted by a chain saw. What a damn shame. We won’t be hearing from him again. * WordPlaya, April 2009

I enjoy writing and since rediscovering the power of poetry, it has brought me much joy! My favorite poet is Richard Brautigan, and I am a big fan of freestyle poetry, as I find it less limiting and most creative. I also like spoken word poetry. ...
